Careers
Allensworth is a unique place to work. We designed it that way. Our firm combines excellence in construction law with a serious, ongoing commitment to collegiality, teamwork, and authenticity. We hire real people who love what they do and who enjoy being part of a close-knit, positive team that’s dedicated to serving our clients.
We’re a small firm on purpose. We’ve found that the ideal setting to practice the intricate, demanding, and endlessly evolving realm of construction law is with a select team of top-notch professionals who aren’t just smart, but who also embody our core values.
We want to enjoy the work we do and the people we work with. We strive to minimize politics, turf battles, and bureaucratic nonsense, and whenever humanly possible, eliminate silos and walls. As colleagues, we maintain a level of respect and teamwork that supports and enriches our process, our workplace, and our service to clients and each other. This doesn’t happen by accident. We take our time to get to know candidates through a series of interviews and conversations with many members of our team, and while that makes for a longer hiring process, it’s worth it because we end up with incredibly talented people who tend to stick with us for a long time.
Our team is composed of professionals whose intelligence is matched by their drive and commitment to excellence. As self-starters who are never satisfied with the status quo, they seek out opportunities to grow and innovate, and we’re there to help. We support professional development and continuing education initiatives, we help our team members get plugged into professional associations and leadership opportunities, and we provide direct mentorship and in-house training because we know that by investing in our team members, we’re investing in the overall success of our clients and our firm.
We offer great benefits and perks like 401(k) matching, employee health insurance covered at 100%, and Class A offices in downtown Austin with modern amenities and local beverages on tap. And consistent with our core values, we enjoy having fun together. We’ve got a lunchtime crossword crew, monthly birthday happy hours, and various events throughout the year (some highlights include axe-throwing competitions, DIY sushi-making classes, casino night, group trivia, office Olympics, and running the Cap 10k as the “Weapons of Mass Construction” team).
Finally, and above all, we are fiercely committed to our clients. No one is more important. Our job, ultimately, is to handle clients’ legal issues to enable them to do what they love: developing, designing, and constructing. Everyone at our firm puts our clients’ needs first—and if you join us, you will, too.

Law Students
Many law students, particularly from top schools, feel a certain pressure to begin their careers at big firms. At Allensworth, our summer program is designed to present an alternative: a rich, hands-on experience with active mentorship that only a small, focused firm can offer.
An attorney’s mentors and colleagues can make—or break—a legal career. This is especially true for young lawyers. Because we’re a small firm, our summer clerks work directly with some of the most experienced and talented construction lawyers in Texas. These attorneys, some of whom are also law school faculty and industry leadership members, devote serious time and attention to training, teaching, and mentorship. Summer associates sit in on mediations and depositions, learn how to draft discovery and negotiate contracts, and experience firsthand our commitment to client service. We make the clerkship as similar to actual employment here as possible—an approach that’s in everyone’s best interests.
We also put a great deal of time and effort into the informal side of their summers. We are looking for people who can hold a conversation, whom we’d enjoy working with, and who have a genuine desire to practice construction law. Our clerks get to know all of our attorneys and professional staff through lunches and various social events. We want to get to know our clerks as people, as well as professionals, to figure out whether they would thrive as a permanent part of the Allensworth team.
